Hannon’s Block Historic Renovation
IBC Properties, Inc.
Hannon’s Block was built in 1874 for brothers William and Michael Hannon, real estate and insurance agents. It was designed by James Young and thought to be the fi rst building in Toledo to be wired for electric light. The building was occupied as a feed store with apartments above and was also a warehouse to various goods including furniture, toys, and tool and dye.
Hannon’s Block has evolved over the past five years to change with the market demands of the busy downtown Warehouse District where it is located. The project includes a restaurant on the first floor with commercial tenant spaces on the second and third floors. The exterior was fully restored utilizing state and federal tax credits and features the original terracotta name and date. The interior has maintained the brick archways as the prominent historic feature.
Thomas Porter Architects partnered with LKL Engineers for structural engineering and MDA Engineering for Fire Protection and MEP Engineering to complete the design of the project.
