Hotel Royal Historic Renovation
Toledo Revival
Hotel Royal is located just outside the Warehouse District and adjacent to Central Union Terminal/ Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza. The building was originally built at Kest’s European Hotel and later became the Meyerhof Hotel a decade later. A barber shop operated out of the first floor commercial space fronting on Broadway beginning around 1916 for 50 years. In 1958 the building was purchased by the Russell family and renamed Hotel Royal. It stopped operating as a hotel by the 1990’s and sat vacant for 30 years until it was purchased by the current owner.
In early 2018 contraction began on the building to undergo complete interior and exterior renovations. The scope of work includes masonry repairs and tuck-pointing, structure stabilization, window replacement, roof replacement, electrical site work, and complete interior renovations. Hotel Royal will once again function as such with fi ve short term rentals. Three long term rentals will round out the building and provide reliable and steady cash fl ow. Two commercial tenant spaces occupy the front of the building on the first floor facing Broadway St.
TPA partnered with LKL Engineers for structural engineering, Vision Design Group for fire protection and MEP engineering, and ESA for civil engineering to complete the design of the project.
