S. Metzger Produce Building Historic Renovation

S. Metzger Produce Building is located in the Warehouse District adjacent to the historic Erie Street Market and former canal district. The building has served the produce industry as M.O. Baker Co., S. Metzger Produce Company, and most recently as Al Peake and Sons Produce.

In 2018 the building, with assistance from PACE program and federal and state historic tax credits, underwent complete interior and exterior renovations. The scope of work included a complete rebuild of the masonry on the front facade due to damaged steel lintels, repair to the existing steel awning, window replacement and window rehabilitation, new storefronts, complete interior renovations, and ‘Sunkist’ exterior mural restoration. Today the S. Metzger Produce building is a thriving mixed-use building with three commercial tenant spaces on the first floor, and five apartments on the second floor. In 2019 Souk on Market was completed in the one of the commercial tenant spaces and features and outdoor patio. TPA is current in design development for the other two commercial tenant spaces.

TPA partnered with LKL Engineers for structural engineering and MDA Engineering for
Fire Protection and MEP Engineering to complete the design of the project.
