New Headquarters
Toledo Federation of Teachers
The Toledo Federation of Teachers is an organization that advocates for the social and economic well-being of it’s nearly 3,000 members. They had the goal of building a new headquarters in a central downtown Toledo location to better server its members. When a lot became available in the Toledo Warehouse District, just south of downtown’s central core, the Federation purchased it for their new headquarters as it had ample room for the building and on-site parking lot for the convenience of it’s members.
The building design is a two story structure with a second floor integrated balcony built to bring the outdoors in, and emphasize the connection with Saint Clair St. The new building was designed as a modern infill structure to contrast with, and also compliment, the historic warehouses and nearby infill housing. The building inside and out carries forward a raw industrial feel. Large windows also bring natural light into the lobby conference rooms and offices.
